Austrian Experts Visit Imereti Caves Protected Areas
From March 3 through March 9, 2014, within the framework of the EU-funded Twinning project “Strengthening the Management of Protected Areas of Georgia”, the Agency of Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection hosted Austrian Experts – Rudolf Pavusa and Martin Kralik.

Signing of a renewed Grant Agreement between Caucasus Nature Fund and the Agency of Protected Areas
On February 28, 2014, at 14:00 the ceremony of signing an updted grant agreement between the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection Ms. Khatuna Gogaladze, the Director of the Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF) Mr. David Morrison and the Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas Mr. Rati Japaridze took place at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection.

Fire Broke out on the Territory of Vashlovani PA Traditional Use Zone
According to the reports of Vashlovani Protected Areas Administration, on February 21, 2014, fire broke out on the territory of traditional use zone of Vashlovani National Park, in the Natlistskali Valley, as a result of which about 700 hectares of grass cover of the grazing land has bed destroyed.

Competition for Improvement of Socio-Economical Conditions of Local Population in Kazbegi Municipality
Transboundary Joint Secretariat for Nature Conservation in the South Caucasus (TJS), in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection, the Agency of Protected Areas, the Municipality of Kazbegi and the regional working group is implementing a program aiming to improve the socio-economical conditions of the local population living in the nearby areas of Kazbegi National Park.

February 2nd, the World Wetlands Protection Day
February 2nd is the World Wetlands Day. It marks the date of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands, on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar. The Convention offers protection of the Wetlands and conservation of habitats of migratory waterbirds worldwide.

Third Meeting of the Advisory Board of APA
On January 21 the third advisory board meeting was held at the Agency of Protected Areas. Representatives from the non-public (NGO sector), international organizations, and university officials attended the meeting where different issues related to problems currently existing in the Agency, as well as current and implemented projects and future plans were discussed.
