A consultation meeting with local authorities was conducted to discuss the establishment of new Protected Areas in the Kakheti region. The meeting took place at the Administration of the State Representative in Kakheti, where representatives of the Agency of Protected Areas discussed the creation of new Protected Areas in the region. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas, Besik Amiranashvili, and the State Representative of Kakheti, Giorgi Aladashvili. Research was carried out on approximately 22 000 hectares in the municipalities of Gurjaani, Telavi, and Sagarejo. A specially formed team assessed the biodiversity, landscape features, and other important natural values. The results confirmed that the surveyed areas fully meet the criteria required for establishing a National Park and a Protected Landscape in the region. The creation of a new Protected Area on the Tsiv-Gombori Range will significantly strengthen the network of Protected Areas.
