Photo exhibition of Protected Areas of Georgia at the UN office in

 On November 6, 2013, an opening ceremony of the photo exhibition representing the Protected Areas and National Parks of Georgia was held at the United Nations office in Geneva. The Agency of Protected Areas, as well as Georgia’s Permanent Mission to the UN initiated the exhibition. The aim of the exhibition is to promote Protected Areas of Georgia and raise awareness of people on international level.

During the ceremony, besides the Officer-in-Charge United Nations Office at Geneva Mr. Clemens Adams and the permanent representative of Georgia to the UN, Mr. Shalva Tsikarishvili, the opening speech was made by Chairman of the Protected Areas of Georgia, Mr. Rati Japaridze. He spoke about the advantages of the geographical location of the country, conservation of bio-diversity, tourist infrastructure existing within the national parks and the plans for the development of eco tourism in Georgia.   

The exposition will be displayed for duration of 2 weeks and is represented at a special exhibition space along the glass bridge, connecting the old and new buildings of the UN office. Therefore, all visitors of the office will have the opportunity to acquire information and get acquainted with the natural heritage, nature monuments, landscape and bio-diversity of Georgia.
