Agency of the Protected Areas celebrated Earth Day

It has to be mentioned that 22th of April is a memorable day in the history of the Agency of Protected Areas. On 22th of April, 2003 year, Parliament of Georgia passed a law on designation and managment of Tusheti, Batsara-Babaneuri and Vashlovani Protected Areas’, according to the above, Georgia enriched with eight new protected areas and three strict nature reserves had been expanded.
In the frame of U.S. Department of the Interior’s international technical assistance program, orientation course on the protected areas’ effective management had been held for the employees of the Agency of Protected Areas. The above course’s following seven tarining modules were: Integrated Management Model, Visitors’ Services, Public Outreach and Environmental Education, Institutional Development, Sustainable Infrastructure, Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue Activities.
The above course facilitates that newly appointed employees of the Agency of Protected Areas to understand in a better way Agency’s mission and spheres of activities. Intensive trainings of U.S. Department of the Interior’s technical support program has been held at the Agency of Protected Areas, since 2009. Successfully graduate students were awarded with certificates by trainer Paata Shanshiashvili. The event had been led by the Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas Lasha Moistsrapishvili.
