An event was held to mark the opening of the summer tourism season at Tsalka Canyon.
The event was attended by Tamar Khakhishvili, Deputy Chairperson of the Agency of Protected Areas, who spoke about the importance of Tsalka Canyon as a rapidly developing ecotourism destination. She noted that the canyon plays a significant role in strengthening the tourism potential of the Kvemo Kartli region and attracts an increasing number of visitors every year.
Among the attendees were Maia Omiadze, Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration; Ilia Jalaghania, State Representative in Kvemo Kartli; Ilia Sabadze, Mayor of Tsalka Municipality; as well as representatives of tourism agencies and tour operators.
The Tsalka Canyon project is an ecotourism destination developed through international partnership. For the first time in Georgia, a 240-meter glass bridge was constructed over the canyon, while hotels and other tourism infrastructure were developed in the surrounding area. As a result, the project has created one of Georgia’s most attractive tourist destinations while preserving the area’s natural landscape - one of the Agency of Protected Areas highest priorities.
