Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas Lasha Moistsrapishvili held a meeting at the administration of Guria region

At the meeting were discussed Ponto oak protected areas creation’s opportunities and future cooperation plans. The project is being implemented by the financial support of Friends Association of Tusheti Protected Areas and WWF.
Chokhatauri municipality is the only place in Georgia, where ponto oak is spread at the large area. At the above territory, as a result of forest resources unsustainable use, endangered ponto oak ecosystem. Therefore, it is necessary to confer protected areas status to oaks groves.
The meeting had been attended by Gubernator of Guria Gia Salukvadze, head of Chokhatauri municipality and representatives of WWF.
