Meeting of the Advisory Board at APA

On Thursday, June 27 an advisory board meeting was held at the Agency of Protected Areas. Representatives from the non-public (NGO sector), international organizations, and university officials attended the meeting. During the meeting different issues related to problems currently existing in the Agency, as well as current activities and future plans were discussed.

The members of the advisory board focused on the following topics:

  • Involvement of students and youth in activities implemented by the Agency
  • Importance of eco-education
  • Problems related to hunting farms
  • Ecotourism and the prospective of development of touristic infrastructure
  • Infrastructural works and tourist infrastructure development effectiveness at Okatse Canyon
  • Problems existing in Javakheti National Park

 

Another focal point - the rebranding of the Agency and creation of a new website and logo - was also discussed during the meeting.

The board will be holding meetings once per month and in addition to discussing currently important issues, the tasks and objectives set in previous meetings will be reviewed.
