Demarcation works are underway in the Tana Managed Reserve, covering an area of 10,986 hectares.
The establishment of precise boundaries will enable local residents to formally register land plots that fell within the protected area following its designation, and to manage them at their own discretion.
During the demarcation process, privately owned land plots, active religious structures, electricity transmission towers, and other infrastructural objects that are not characteristic of a protected area are being separated from the boundaries of the reserve.
Demarcation works are carried out after the establishment of each new protected area or the expansion of an existing one.
The Tana Managed Reserve was established in 2023, in the Shida Kartli region, within the Gori Municipality.
