Introduction to EU Environmental Legislation

Within the EU Twinning project, a working session dedicated to introduction to EU environmental legislation was held in Sheraton Batumi. EU environmental legislation, ways for raising awareness about environmental politics and fulfillment of responsibilities taken by Georgia within the association agreement with EU were discussed during the meeting. Exact dates for implementation of those responsibilities were overviewed as well. Participants paid attention to such issues as fundraising and covering costs associated with these obligations. Rati Japaridze, Chairperson of Agency of Protected Areas (APA) of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection; directors of administrations of protected areas; Michael Hoshek, Head of Twinning project component; Ralf Iulich, project expert in legislation issues; non-governmental organizations from Ajara region working on environmental issues and other stakeholders were in attendance.
