125th Year Anniversary of Petre Chabukiani
At the administration of Sataplia, the exhibition for 125th anniversary of Petre Chabukiani was held, where photographs and manuscripts of his work were presented. Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Elguja Khokrishvili and the Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas Rati Japaridze attended the event.
Petre Chabukiani was a teacher from Kutaisi, an employee of local history museum and naturalist. He graduated from the University of Tartu. Coming back to Georgia, he used his knowledge for country’s development. In 1925, he discovered the karst cave while searching for primitive human habitats. After eight years, when the road to Sataplia had been constructing, he discovered footprint of dinosaur.
In frames of this event, Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas held a public lecture for internally displaced children from occupied territories and emphasized the importance of the preservation of protected areas.
