Pasture Management
The first coordination meeting was held on pasture management at the initiative of the United Nations Development Programme. The meeting was attended by representatives of various governmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and experts. The Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia was represented by Deputy Chairmen Bakur Kvaratskhelia and Lasha Moistsrapishvili. They delivered presentations on the current state of pastures in the protected areas, challenges as well as solutions.
On 1st of April, 2013, UNDP in collaboration with the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia started implementation of EU-funded project: “Sustainable management of pastures in Georgia to demonstrate climate change mitigation and adaptation benefits and dividends for local communities.” The project objective is to implement sustainable pasture management practices on the territory of Vashlovani Protected Areas.
The goal of the meeting was to involve various stakeholders, share experience and discuss future plans with regard to pastures.
