Cycling tour to Vashlovani Protected Areas

On Sunday, November 24, the Agency of Protected Areas, together with the initiative from a group of cyclists, organized a one-day cycling tour to Vashlovani Protected Areas. The tour aimed to promote Vashlovani National Park as a travel destination, as well as demonstrate the value of a healthy and active lifestyle to the general public.

About 30 amateur cyclists participated in the event. During the tour, participants became acquainted with the unique and beautiful landscape found in Vashlovani. They were also able to evaluate the park’s current cycling routes. Many participants unanimously agreed that Vashlovani Protected Areas has the best potential for cycling tourism within Georgia. In total, participants covered approximately 45 km during their tour of Vashlovani.

The Agency of Protected Areas intends to continue identifying further areas for cycling tourism. Existing cycling trails will be publicized and the APA will develop picnic and resting areas along these trails. It should also be noted that the infrastructure used by the park’s visitors has also been recently completed. The overnight bungalows have been completely renovated and the observation point at Alesilebi has been rebuilt.
