The winners of the grant competition intended for women living adjacent to the Tana Managed Reserve have been revealed

The winners of the grant competition intended for women living adjacent to the Tana Managed Reserve have been revealed.

The initiatives selected under the grant competition "Promoting Income-Generating Activities for Women," announced by the Agency of Protected Areas, aim to empower women's economic activity and foster sustainable rural development. The competition was open to women living in the vicinity of the Tana Managed Reserve.

As a result of the competition, 19 winning projects were selected, with total grant funding amounting to 8,475 GEL for their support. The funded initiatives will contribute to the development of tourism businesses and local households.

This grant competition marks the second stage for the population living adjacent to the Tana Managed Reserve, highlighting the program's efficiency and the strong interest of the local community. Similar grant initiatives will continue in the future and will gradually expand in scope.

The competition was conducted by the Agency of Protected Areas under the project "Biodiversity and Sustainable Local Development in Georgia," with financial support from the German Government and KfW.

Parallel to creating new protected areas and expanding existing ones, the Agency of Protected Areas pays special attention to improving the socio-economic conditions of local populations. Small grant programs precisely serve this purpose by helping locals generate income streams and develop their own economic activities.
