National Park
There are 17 national parks in Georgia, with a total area of 575,217.01 hectares. The first national park, Tbilisi National Park, was established in 1973.
A National Park is one of the categories of protected areas. National parks are established to protect relatively large ecosystems of national and international importance that are distinguished by their natural beauty, and to conserve existing biodiversity.
In addition, national parks play an important role in the development of ecotourism, particularly in promoting Georgia’s natural and cultural heritage at the international level.
