A network of trails spanning more than 2,200 kilometers in total has been developed across the protected areas

Tamar Khakhishvili, Deputy Chairperson of the Agency of Protected Areas: “A network of trails spanning more than 2,200 kilometers in total has been developed across the protected areas.”

The eco-tourism infrastructure of Georgia's protected areas is developing step-by-step, offering visitors a diverse, safe, and comfortable environment in any season of the year. Today, there are 100 protected areas across the country, and their eco-tourism development remains one of the main priorities for the Agency of Protected Areas.

“Currently, a network of well-maintained trails totaling more than 2,200 kilometers is established in protected areas, designed for both novice and experienced hikers. The trails include routes of varying difficulty and duration, covering both single-day and multi-day treks,” noted the Deputy Chairperson of the Agency of Protected Areas.

As Tamar Khakhishvili explained, minor recreational infrastructure has been developed along the trails: cottages, gazebos, picnic spots, and designated campfire areas have been set up, allowing visitors to spend time comfortably and safely in nature. Informational boards and directional markers are installed along the trails, making travel even easier and safer.
