Demarcation work is currently underway across an area of 10,986 hectares in the Tana Managed Reserve.
Establishing precise boundaries will enable the local population to register ownership of land plots that fell within the park's boundaries upon the creation of protected areas and dispose of them as they wish.
During demarcation, privately owned land plots, active places of worship, power transmission line towers, and other infrastructure facilities not typical for a protected area are delineated and separated from the protected area boundaries.
Demarcation work is carried out following the creation of every new protected area or the expansion of an existing one.
The Tana Managed Reserve was established in 2023 in Gori Municipality, Shida Kartli.
