A Working Meeting Was Held on the Development of Guria National Park
A working meeting was held between the leadership of the Agency of Protected Areas and representatives of the local government regarding the development of Guria National Park.
During the meeting, the parties focused particularly on the importance of developing protected areas, promoting tourism, and ensuring the active involvement of the local population in these processes. Opportunities for expanding the national park were also discussed.
Planned infrastructural projects were presented during the meeting, including the establishment and development of a trail network, which will enhance visitor services as well as contribute to the economic empowerment of the local population.
It was emphasized that the development of Guria National Park will make a significant contribution to boosting ecotourism in the region, expanding recreational spaces, and supporting local traditional farming. Concurrently, the process will support biodiversity conservation and ecosystem preservation.
Guria National Park was established in 2024 within the territories of Ozurgeti and Chokhatauri Municipalities and covers 15,310 hectares. Its purpose is to protect Guria's unique biodiversity and ensure the sustainable management of ecosystems.
To increase public awareness and engagement, informational meetings are planned for the near future.
