An event was held in Tsalka Canyon to mark the opening of the summer tourist season.
The event was attended by Tamar Khakhishvili, Deputy Chair of the Agency of Protected Areas, who spoke about the importance of Tsalka Canyon as a rapidly developing ecotourism destination. According to her, Tsalka Canyon plays a significant role in developing the tourist potential of the Kvemo Kartli region and attracts an increasing number of visitors each year.
Participants in the event included Maia Omiadze, Head of the National Tourism Administration; Ilia Jalagania, State Representative in Kvemo Kartli; Ilia Sabadze, Mayor of Tsalka Municipality; as well as representatives of tourist agencies and tour operators.
The Tsalka Canyon project is an ecotourism space created through international partnership. For the first time in Georgia, a 240-meter glass bridge was built over the canyon, while hotels and other tourist infrastructure were developed in the surrounding area. As a result of the project, one of the country's most attractive tourist destinations was established, while simultaneously preserving the natural appearance of the territory, which stands as a top priority for the Agency of Protected Areas.
