Demarcation work in the Kvereti Managed Reserve has been completed
Demarcation work in the Kvereti Managed Reserve has been completed. In connection with this, a working meeting was held with stakeholders at the Sachkhere Municipality City Hall.
As a result of the demarcation work, the boundaries of the protected area were clarified. This will allow the local population to register ownership and dispose of the land plots—at their discretion—that fell within the reserve's borders following its creation.
The demarcation process covered an area of approximately 15,000 hectares. As part of the work, private properties, active places of worship, power line pylons, and other infrastructure objects not characteristic of a protected area were delineated from the reserve's boundaries.
Demarcation work is carried out after the creation of every new protected area or the expansion of an existing one. Kvereti Managed Reserve, located in Sachkhere Municipality in Zemo Imereti, was established in 2023.
