A meeting was held at the Agency of Protected Areas with a delegation from the Korea National Park Research Center (KNPRC)

A meeting was held at the Agency of Protected Areas with a delegation from the Korea National Park Research Center (KNPRC).

Tamar Khakhishvili, Deputy Chair of the Agency of Protected Areas, met with the delegation members. During the meeting, the parties summarized ongoing cooperation and discussed opportunities for implementing new joint initiatives.

As part of the meeting, a joint seminar titled "Protected Areas and Response to Climate Change" was held, during which Korean and Georgian specialists shared their experience in managing protected areas under climate change conditions, monitoring, and responding to climate risks.

Seminar participants also discussed issues related to early warning systems, ecosystem monitoring, and assessing the impact of climate change. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties explored opportunities for deepening future cooperation.

It is worth noting that within the framework of this cooperation, the Korean side handed over two automatic weather stations to the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia to be installed in Kazbegi National Park. The stations will be used for continuous monitoring of environmental and climatic conditions, and the collected data will support protected area management and climate change impact assessments.

Cooperation between the national park services of Georgia and the Republic of Korea began on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2021 and was further deepened in 2025 through a sister park agreement between Bukhansan and Kazbegi National Parks.
