Organized by the Agency of Protected Areas, 100 chukar partridges and 100 grey partridges were released into the wild in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park to restore species and strengthen their populations.
The chukar partridge and grey partridge are bird species characteristic of Georgia's wildlife. Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park provides a suitable natural environment for their habitation and breeding.
Species restoration and conservation represent one of the key areas of activity for the Agency of Protected Areas. In coordination with the National Wildlife Agency, numerous projects are implemented in this direction, aimed at preserving rare and endangered species and strengthening their natural populations.
To support the restoration and strengthening of species populations, similar initiatives have also recently been carried out in the protected areas of Algeti, Tbilisi, Mariamjvari, Kolkheti, and Tana.
The birds were donated to the protected areas by the Cartu Charity Foundation. Bidzina Ivanishvili and his family have been funding the breeding of unique bird species and their subsequent return to the wild for years.
On the initiative and through the funding of Bidzina Ivanishvili's family, several thousand pheasants, chukar partridges, and grey partridges have already been returned to Georgia's wildlife.
