Rocky Mountain National Park, USA – Tusheti National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park, which is twinned with Tusheti National Park, is located in the United States, in the State of Colorado.
The Colorado River and other rivers originate in Rocky Mountain National Park. The park is home to more than 60 mountain peaks exceeding 3,650 meters in elevation, as well as dozens of beautiful alpine lakes. The park ranges in elevation from 2,350 to 4,270 meters above sea level and is considered one of the highest national parks in the United States.
Approximately one-third of Rocky Mountain National Park lies above the treeline (3,414–3,505 meters). The primary conservation focus of the park is its high-mountain ecosystems. The forest zone transitions from relatively moist subalpine spruce and pine forests to open stands of ponderosa pine and aspen. Beautiful meadows stretch across broad valleys near moraines. Some valleys, including the Fall River Valley, are characterized by classic glacial landforms.
In terms of biodiversity, available data indicate that more than 1,000 species of flowering plants, 61 species of mammals, 280 species of birds, 7 species of fish, 5 species of amphibians, and 1 species of reptile have been recorded in Rocky Mountain National Park.
