Tana-Tedzami Protected Landscape

Year:

The Tana-Tedzami Protected Landscape was established in 2023 in Gori Municipality and encompasses the northern slopes of the Trialeti Range, as well as the basins of the Tana and Tedzami Rivers. Its total area is 21,864 hectares.

The main purpose of establishing the Protected Landscape is to support the development of local communities and conserve nature through the sustainable management of natural resources.

The Tana and Tedzami valleys are important areas for biodiversity conservation and are distinguished by their rich diversity of flora and fauna, including species listed in Georgia’s Red List.

The Tana and Tedzami valleys also have a rich historical and cultural heritage, represented by temples dating back to the early centuries, fortress towers, and abandoned settlements.

The geographical location of the Tana and Tedzami valleys is a major factor contributing to the development of ecotourism. The Protected Landscape is managed by Gori Municipality and plays an important role in the development of local self-government.
