In 2023, the Racha National Park was established in the Oni Municipality on an area of 50,835 hectares.
Racha is distinguished by its rich biodiversity and is an important part of Georgia's natural heritage. The establishment of a protected area in Racha will contribute to the protection and preservation of the region's biodiversity, ecosystems, landscapes, and natural and cultural values; ecotourism, infrastructure will be developed, and new tourist services will be introduced, which will positively affect the improvement of the region's socio-economic situation.
